France says "no" to GMOs

Frances highest court has upheld a government ban on the commercial growing of genetically engineered corn. The ban was enacted in February after a government-appointed committee found new evidence that genetically engineered crops were harmful to the environment. Currently, just under 1.5 percent of Frances 54,000-plus acres maize in genetically engineered. For the ban to stick, the government will have to prove the environmental concerns over the safety of the Monsanto-produced genetically modified corn have merit.
