Organic high-school cafeteria offerings a big hit

 
Organic fare has proven a big hit with high-school kids in southeastern Pennsylvania. Manheim Township School District food service director Gavin Scalver came up with the idea to introduce local and organic food to the menu after reading a newspaper article about farmers in his area selling organic produce in Philadelphia. Meetings with students proved there was an interested clientele.
 
While some students cited environmental and health reasons for choosing organic, most of them said simply that it tastes better.
