Are you dining in the dark?

In a country that labels everything from cosmetics to cleaning agents, it is surprising there are no laws in the U.S. requiring labeling of genetically modified (GM) foods. When genetically modified crops were fresh on the scene, the FDA ruled them to be “substantially equivalent” to traditionally bred crops. That singular decision established the assumption that GM foods pose no risk and has meant they are not required to be labeled as containing the altered genes. However, studies are showing grave consequences of consuming genetically modified organisms (GMOs). They've caused organ failure and infertility in animal studies and have contributed to the rise of herbicide-resistant weeds.

According to the Congressional Research Service, an estimated 60 to 70 percent of processed foods available in U.S. grocery stores contain GMOs. And GMOs have contaminated farms across the nation with renegade genes—a concern for consumers who want to choose non-GMO foods and for farmers whose businesses rely on providing GMO-free products.

Several recent polls and surveys show that a great majority of Americans believe they have the right to know what is in the foods they are eating and favor mandatory labeling of GMO foods. In fact, 93 percent of Americans believe GM foods should be labeled according to a 2010 Thomson Reuters PULSE™ Healthcare Survey.

We’ve joined in an effort with more than 350 partner organizations representing millions of Americans called the “Just Label It: We Have a Right to Know” campaign.  It supports a petition to the FDA that calls for products that use ingredients produced with genetic engineering to disclose this information on the label.

If you think you have a right to know if the food you and your family are eating has been genetically modified, send a message to the FDA today! Let’s make sure the FDA hears loud and clear that Americans want GMO foods labeled.

GMO FOODS

This is the same deal, big companies getting away with what the people dont reswant.. please just label all the products that contain gmo materials, let me decide if i want to but or not... dont choose for me...just label it and stop bullying of people health.

GMO Labelling

JUST LABEL IT!

GMO's

Yes, it's incredible that GMO companies like Monsanto and DuPont have gotten this far. It started in 1995 I think, GMO's unlabeled in our food, when Monsanto people were placed in powers of decision making in the FDA. So, from 1995 till now--16 years, and now GMO's are in almost every single processed food. No wonder America's health has gone downhill, especially our children! Skyrocketing allergies, hm, wonder where they came from. Skyrocketing cancer, infertility, etc. etc. Everyone needs to say NO to GMO's, even the farmers, who need to stop being bullied and brainwashed by these companies. They CAN buy pure seed! It's time to fight back with our wallets, folks!

Re: GMO Foods

How can the FDA sit back once again & leave Americans susceptable to yet another type of food contamination? As if it weren't bad enough that we've had to unknowingly consume chemically contaminated & diseased meats, but now it's come down to the seed that grow our food being contaminated. How can you consciously declare that GMO seed is not harmful? That GMO seed does not contaminate our earth? Americans have the right to know if the foods they're eating were grown with GMO seed. Just a simple labeling on food that would give us a choice. Are you afraid that the lable will cause your profits to drop? Yes & hopefully it will. This is so wrong in the eyes of the law, the land & the people! Americans refuse to be forced to eat GMO foods & thats our right. If you must continue with GMO, then you must label the products so the Americans have a choice.
