GMO Right to Know!

I want to know which garden seeds sold in catalogs are GMO's. There is no way to know, unless it is an heirloom or hybrid.

In the grocery store produce section, at least I can look at the PLU and if the first digit is 9, then it is a GMO.

I want some kind of coding scheme like this on everything - on seed packets, processed foods, everything.

GMOs are not derived through the miracle of natural selection (progeny within specie reproductive barriers), but by violent methods of blasting, electrical stress or Agrobacterium infection methods. Bt-Corn and other Bt crops are plants endowed with an intracellular pesticide through genetic modification. Translation - every cell of the plant contains the genetics of a pestide trait found in a soil bacterium. We are eating this stuff folks and have been since '96. Most of the food animals we raise in this country are on the same diet as we are - GMOs. Kick the conv. food/GMO habit and go certified organic (or buy from a non-certified trusted farmer/gardener source). Organic food products are derived through natural seed breeding. Organic farming practices promote nature's way of creation via soil life propagation. Organics promote the indespensible invisible microbial world found abundantly in fertile soil; and let us not forget the largest of the wonderworkers, the earthworm. Chemical farming assualts this complex world beneath our feet.

Your consumer dollar counts. A dollar not gone to organic supports more of the same - GMOs, chemically polluted plants and animals and waterways and...YOU. Its time to stop and wonder why, and ponder the consequences attached to blind purchasing. Need help with pertinent information, go online to the Rodale Institute or Acres USA or other such eco-agriculture organizations.

We can be deceived by appearances of food in most cases, in general it is not possible to see integral quality; or we can be left with faulty information about food, or worst of all we can convince ourselves of a lie that it simply does not matter. In an incredibly unique way, all life has an innate intelligence which cannot be lied to. We will pay the consequences for our ignorance or unwillingness to nourish our bodies properly. I think the Weston A. Price Foundation is dead-on-target with their information about diet. Their research is derived from the multi-generations laboratory of cultural human experience untouched by modern conveniences. Monsanto and other selfish corporationds are endeangering the entire world's food sources by their selfish actions. People have a right to know what they are eating and feeding their children!!!!!!!

I am writing because I want to preserve my health, the health of the planet, and the LIVELIHOOD of small farmers which are all jeopardized by GM foods and the practices of companies producing GM seeds and products.

We are sorely short-sited if we believe there aren't substantial differences between plants grown through natural genetic development and human manipulated gene expression. Just because we don't yet have the knowledge or processes to detect differences between the two does NOT mean that they don't exist. Further more, the idea of a truly free market economy is full disclosure and education of the consumer!!

Please support strick control and labeling of GMO products. Your constituants deserve to know what they are eating. Also the neighboring farms need to know that their crops are protected from contamination from GMO crops. GMO's should be banned until careful research can be conducted on the effects of genetic modification.

Independent tests on various species all show ill effects of RR Soy, and other RR gmo crops.A Russian study showed infertility,mortality, and organ diseases by the 3rd generation.In other tests, toxic chemicals were formed in the colons of test animals from the RR soy diet fed control animals.Monsanto did submit test data that showed no ill effects of RR genes in soy,corn, etc,yet independent tests show quite the opposite.Monsanto cannot be trusted there is an obvious conflict of interest, when a corporation is allowed to have it's own gmo food product trials used as reliable data to prove safety, a serious problem. the USDA is a shared investor , another conflict of interest.There is a reason Europe bans gmo foods, as it does another type of GMO;rGBH, genetic recombinant bovine growth hormone. Monsanto maintained there was no difference between rGBH milk and conventional milk.This was proven false again in all independent tests. rGBH milk had much higher leukemia counts, better known as pus in the milk indicating rGBH caused udder infections in cows.The milk also had a higher amount of bovine growth hormone.Monsanto's false assertions are many. The Percy Schmiezer case in Canada , and it's soy police in the US are a testament to corporate criminality allowed by the courts.When gmo pollen blows onto a neighboring crop, it's pollution, not a copyright crony capitalism and pay to play regulation.Monsanto is an example of what's wrong with ag corporation conglomeration.The technology from Monsanto shows evil intent to enslave farmers;traitor, and terminator technologies. In traitor technology, a seed is sterile, it will not germinate. In terminator technology, unless a chemical from Monsanto is sprayed on the crop, the crop will die.What earthly use is such technology to farmers? These evil technologies are solely for Monsanto to enslave farmers.Monsanto sent GMO seed to Haiti,Haitian farmers boycotted them, knowing they would be the first step to enslave them.Haitians know much about about slavery.Monsanto's a poster child of corporate exploitation, whether it's our food supply or rd world country's need for seed.Their intent is to enslave all for immense profits,corporations lack morals they must be regulated.The time is now, to bring Monsanto under control. They have many RR crops, Alfalfa is next, after they will try to register wheat.So far, they have been turned back in these two crops.As a eco farmer, I grow my own corn seed, but I must rely on growers for my alfalfa seed. We must educate the consumers about RR genes spliced into our food crops, what they do inside our bodies. What right does Monsanto have to pollute all our food crops with their toxic proteins? None.That's if the people have any more rights.

The only way ANY GMO seed should be allowed to be sold is to growers who ONLY use that seed to grow INDOORS. After all we wouldn't want cross-pollination - would we!

GMO's are "insanity unleashed", all folks need to be protected from them. They are in the same planetary category of the BP Gulf Oil Disaster, must be stopped at all costs.

Studies are showing grave consequences of consuming GM’s, such as organ failure and infertility in rodents along with agricultural problems as well. Still, more than 70% of processed foods on U.S. grocery store shelves contain some genetically modified ingredients.
