Farm group seeks to survey organic growers on 2009 late blight

Late blight attacks overwhelmed organic integrated pest defenses in 2009, and an organic farm group is helping farmers learn from the devastating season. It is gathering experiences to find what might help organic farmers better prepare for another onset of the blight.

Insights from a grower survey will be presented at the NOFA/Mass Winter Conference on January 16 in the Spring edition of The Natural Farmer, and on the website of the Northeast Organic Farming Association/ Massachusetts Chapter, the project leader.

Growers who raised tomatoes using organic practices in New England, New Jersey, New York, or Pennsylvania, may respond to the survey below by January 1. Whole Foods Market has given $5,000 to support this research.
