Prospective Irish organic farmers turned away from conversion process

Due to inadequate funding and an overflow of applicants, many Irish farmers looking to transition to organic have been left in the cold. Officials say the applicants already processed will, on their own, require the entire budget allocated to organic transition for this year.  Processing will resume, however, as more funds become available.

Some organic advocates fear this setback will deter farmers from conversion in the future.
