Farmer groups in three nations oppose GM wheat development

Noting continued resistance by consumers, farmers and global markets to GM wheat, a coalition of groups from the U.S., Canada and Australia has banded together to mobilize opposition to the commercial development of herbicide-tolerant wheat lines. The move follows a bio-tech industry group pledge May 14 to”work toward the goal of synchronized commercialization of biotech traits in our wheat crops.”  

“Monsanto and industry groups in our countries need to abandon their agenda
of forcing GE wheat onto a market that doesn’t want or need it," said Katherine Ozer, Executive Director of the National Family Farm Coalition in the U.S.
