Commodity, land groups issue greenhouse-gas policy requests
A dozen U.S. commodity, farmer and ag land groups have issued nine points they agree should guide U.S. farm policy relative to greenhouse-gas cap-and-trade legislation.
The groups say the ag sector must not be subject to an emissions cap, and that any carbon-focused policies should be based on “sound science,” recognize a wide range of carbon mitigation and sequestration options, be economically viable and should reward current and future efforts that achieve demonstrable carbon benefits.
