Many factors contributing to honeybee deaths
The latest theories on massive worldwide honeybee deaths say that a multitude of sub-lethal factors have converged, and the synergy is deadly. The combination, unfortunately, precludes the possibility of a single magic bullet. The major stress, say researchers, may be the varroa mite, a parasite from Siberia developing pesticide resistance. An additional threat, posed by herbicides, could be a dearth of flowering weeds, which have long provided bees with nutritional diversity from a variety of pollen sources.
