Military tries peaceful grain growing approach in Taliban country

National Guard Agribusiness Development teams in Afghanistan staged a creative offensive to Taliban control: they established an alternative wheat-seed farm to compete with the Taliban-controlled operation at Khajanoor Farms.
 
"It puts a lot of pressure on Khajanoor," said the commander of the agribusiness team. "The farmers can see there's economic development going to Nawur and not to Andar. We see them asking a lot of questions. It's a way to get them to question supporting the Taliban."
