Jackson and Berry speak up for soil

“Soil that is used and abused…is as nonrenewable as (and far more valuable than) oil. Unlike oil, it has no technological substitute — and no powerful friends in the halls of government,” write Wendell Berry and Wes Jackson in a powerful op-ed piece about the devastating effects of modern agriculture. They make suggestions for alleviating the effects of humanity’s attack on land and valuable resources.
