Quick and cheap fix for carbon footprint: grow more reflective crops

Research from the University of Bristol shows that crops reflect sunlight back into space to varying degrees, lessening the greenhouse effect and cooling the planet. This quality is known as albedo and varies greatly even among different varieties of the same crop. Having a major impact on climate change may be as simple as finding the most reflective crop varieties, without necessarily making changes in crops or yields, and such adjustments could be tied to carbon credits.
