Making the most of manure

Researchers at USDA Agricultural Research Service are using thermochemical conversion technology to experiment with generating bioenergy from manure. While composting manure can take months, techniques like wet gasification and pyrolysis technology transform the raw waste product into usable energy within a matter of minutes, meanwhile eliminating harmful components like pharmaceuticals and hormones in the heating process.
