Australian dairy farmers find their advantage threatened by anti-GMO Japanese buyout

 

The Dairy Farmers’ association in Australia now feels unable to compete on the world market because its Japanese buyer, National Foods, bans the use of the genetically modified hormone Posilac (capable of boosting productivity by around 15 percent). The association feels that its constituents need access to the most cutting-edge technology and at least the same technology used by its competitors in order to compete globally, but Japan would rather stay away from GMOs.
