DeVault to head Seed Savers Exchange

Longtime New Farm editor George DeVault has accepted the position as president and executive director of the nonprofit Seed Savers Exchange in Decorah, Iowa, an organization dedicated to the preservation of heirloom varieties of vegetables, fruits, flowers and herbs and agricultural biodiversity in general. The position represents the pinnacle of a career that’s included farming, mentoring farmers and writing about farming. DeVault—also a volunteer fire chief, soon-to-be grandfather and W.K. Kellogg Foundation Food and Society Policy Fellow—succeeds Kent Whealy, a co-founder and former executive director of Seed Savers Exchange.
