Nematodes can protect fruit from pests

This study was performed by researchers to find a way to reduce the numbers of Plum Curculio, an insect pest to many kinds of fruit. In three settings, they found that a nematode, the Steinernema riobrave, was effective in killing the pest. The study suggests that introducing some strains of the nematode can help farmers protect their fruit crops without pesticides. Full story: USDA
