Setback for solar power

The U.S. government has put a stop to planned solar energy projects on public land to allow their environmental impact to be examined. Government officials say that things like impact to wildlife and water use need to be studied for more than 130 projects before they are implemented. Opponents who advocate solar power as a clean energy source complain that this delay will seriously impede the growth of the young industry. Full story: International Herald Tribune
