Bat deaths remain a mystery

Bats are dying in epidemic proportions of a new disease now being called “white-nosed syndrome.” Officials at the U.S. Geological Survey have issued a Wildlife Health Bulletin, which advises anyone finding a sick or dead bat to avoid handling it and to contact their state wildlife conservation agency. Bats are important pollinators, particularly in tropical and desert climates. Full story
