High fuel prices could slash greenhouse gas emissions

It looks like spiraling gasoline prices (and record profits for oil companies) will do for the United States what gas tax has done in Europe: create strong incentive for drivers to drive less, abandon fuel-inefficient vehicles  and think creatively about transportation in the post-oil economy.
