Tyson ordered to pull antibiotic-free claims
After double-digit increases in sales of fresh chicken sold under the label "raised without antibiotics that impact antibiotic resistance in humans," Tyson has been court ordered to suspend their multimillion dollar marketing campaign. Although the injunction was brought against the chicken giant by competitors who argued Tyson's claim implied their products were less safe, Tyson admitted in court proceedings that they do inject their eggs with antibiotics before they hatch. Tyson claimed customers understand the term "raised" only covers the period between hatching and slaughter and not time spent in the egg. Full article
